To help launch my entrepreneurship I worked with a dietitian business coach followed by a freelance business coach. They were both incredible and helped me reach my goals faster. In this bonus episode, I share why hiring a business coach is a smart move!
Season 2 Episode 23: Bonus Episode…All About Business Coaches!
Want To Check Out My Coaches?
- Krista Ko is a Dietitian Business Coach and also runs the Dietitian Success Center
- Colleen Welsch is a successful freelance writer and coach
I ended up working with two different coaches last year because I had two different business goals. It is a bit unusual to work with two coaches back to back, but hey, it worked for me.
Why Did Hire A Dietitian Business Coach?
Working with another dietitian has its perks:
- They can relate to so many of your experiences
- They have inspiring stories that make you feel like can do it too
- They speak the same language. Dietitian not dietician, am I right?
Seeing one of your own be a trailblazer is exciting and inspiring.
When Should You Hire A Business Coach?
If you spend more time spinning your wheels than actually taking action, it’s time to hire help. Depending on your circumstances and your goals, you may feel better having completed one standalone session with a coach.
Or, you may feel ready to buckle down and invest in a 4-week or 6-week program. That’s what I ended up doing because I knew I needed help (and at that time I could afford it).
The most important thing is to hire somebody that hears you, supports you, and helps you build an actionable plan.
How Do You Pick The Right Business Coach?
Go window shopping! Follow their socials and listen to how they present themselves on podcasts and Instagram. If they are using language that connects with you, ask if you can book a free discovery call.
Your business coach will want to vet you as much as you want to vet them. Having a discovery call is a great way to make sure everyone is on the same page and that you two will work well together.
Don’t feel awkward if a call flops. It happens! That’s why you are going for a test drive before making a large financial commitment. Ask friends for recommendations and keep reaching out to potential coaches.
You Don’t Have To Work With A Dietitian
You shouldn’t feel obligated to only work with a dietitian. When I was ready to hire a freelance coach I intentionally chose someone who didn’t carry any health care credentials. I wanted to work with someone who had business education, and experience and was living my dream freelance life. That’s why I hired Colleen!
I loved working with both of my coaches. They taught me very different things and helped me mature as a business owner.
